Our society conditions boys to suppress vulnerable, delicate and effeminate behaviour. This attitude continues into adulthood, where expressions of femininity are ridiculed; isolating men daring to deviate from the image and behaviours of masculinity.
'The Tenderness of Wild Things' captures men known to the artists in an intimate space and light, portraying a delicate beauty that is rarely associated with being "a man".

These photographs alongside the words of poet Omar Musa challenges conventional expressions of masculinity and invites the viewer to connect with each subject’s vulnerability.

Tim Hardy is a Canberra based artist working with photography and zines.
