Cat Mueller and Mei Wilkinson

Cat Mueller and Mei Wilkinson continue to challenge preconceptions of painting in Cowabunga!. This show uses their work collaboratively to delve into the narative possibilities of abstraction. Drawing on their formative years both artists incorporate motifs and imagery from 1990s pop culture into paintings full of pictorial depth and movement. Their processes use digital and traditional techniques to translate the material world to the screen, and back again. The results are buzzing with optically active devices borrowed from the Op Art movement of the 1960s. Cowabunga!
