Aspects of Transit
Christopher Burton
Aspects of Transit forms part of ongoing investigations into methods of translating features of urban spaces into abstract compositions. Informed by interactions with both familiar and foreign spaces, the drawings react to environments that feature density, movement and repetitive architectural patterns. These are translated through the use of abstract tonal transitions, visual mapping and repetition of linear mark making. Textual reference to foreign coach companies forms part of the works’ exploration of transportation as a part of urban infrastructure and a way of moving through spaces.
